The number of Unemployment Claims in the US for the last week fell by 16 thous against the previous week and amounted to 269 thous. This information was published at 13:30 GMT by the Ministry of Labour of the country.

This indicator was better than forecasts of experts who had expected increase of applications to 287 thous against the previous week's statistics of 285 thous. This level has been continuing to hold during 49 consecutive weeks below 300 thous, thus it can be argued that the labor market remains in good condition.

Last Thursday, it was published the information that the US budget surplus for January 2016 amounted to $55.163 billion against the backdrop of last year's value of $258.416.
